According to a recent survey, Facebook has become the most commonly used social media tool to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Over 3,000 SMEs completed the survey ran by social media management platform Retortal which found that 62 per cent of SMEs used social media to promote their business.
The most popular was Facebook with 65 per cent, followed by Twitter (51 per cent), Linked In (43 per cent) and Google + (28 per cent).
More than half of the respondents (53 per cent) strongly agreed or agreed that social media tools were important to their business. Over the next three years, almost three-quarters of participants were expecting to increase the use of social media for business purposes.
Senior Account Manager at Candor Creative, Lizzie Horridge, said: “Facebook has become vital for businesses to promote their key messages to customers and is particularly beneficial for SMEs.
“However, businesses need to be cautious to not use their business profile in the same way as their personal one to maximise on the effectivity of their page.”
